Concentric Vs Eccentric
1. A maximal concentric contraction (MCC) produce less force than a maximal eccentric
contraction (MEC)
2.Greater number of motor units must be recruited to control the same load with a concentric
contraction as compared with an eccentric contraction
3.At slow velocity MEC generates greater force than a MCC
At fast velocity MCC force rapidly decreases and MEC force increase slightly and then decrease.
4.Eccentric muscle contraction consumes less O2 and fewer energy stores than concentric contraction
